The Guide was started in 2004 by Doug and Barbara Harrell of Bakersville, North Carolina. In the early '80's they started a company called Consolidated Directories, Inc. located in Burlington, North Carolina. Consolidated Directories was one of the first to publish independent telephone books in the Southeast. The company prospered and in 1990 the company was sold. At that time the Harrell's moved back to Western North Carolina, where they were raised. Aging parents and five children and 16 grandchildren kept them busy for a time, but there was such a need for a telephone/informational directory for the computer, that in 2004 THE GUIDE was conceived and begun. It is something very unique in the market today. Exciting things are happening in the technology field and THE GUIDE is in the forefront.
